Cosatu Western Cape is disturbed about the latest incident in which the City of Cape Town has declared war against the homeless people in Cape Town. We condemn this attack on the homeless people in the strongest possible terms and demand that the City of Cape Town withdraws their draconian bylaws.
City of Cape Town's Homeless Agency Committee chair Ncumisa Mahangu says the site currently accommodates 118 people who are homeless. Mahangu says about 20 percent of people who are homeless and in the shelters and sites that the City supports are refusing to be vaccinated. She says it is mostly women who are reluctant to get the jab.
